Facebook launches Workplace, the private social network for business

Facebook company lunched Workplace, a tool and a communication platform dedicated to business and to the non-governmental organisations that can replace the intranet, the e-mail or other communication ways at job. Among the companies that have already installed this application are Starbucks and Danone. The general director of the Workplace, Julien Codorniou, stated that the already existing things were replaced and re-grouped in a one single tool that will allow the user to have a wall of information, like in the case of their Facebook Live personal profile. About 95% of what he developed for Facebook is integrated in Workplace. The color of this application is gray and it is not necessary to create a Facebook account to be able to access Workplace.

The Facebook company specified that it only transferred the data that remain in the property of the companies and the companies have to pay a 1-3 euros subscription for each employee that uses this application. The university centers and the non-governmental organisations can use Workplace for free. The Workplace application was launched at very short time after the Events application was also launched by Facebook. This new application is dedicated to the mobile devices and it is some sort of calendar that allows the users to find or to refind the events that were announced on Facebook. The Events application is available for the iPhone and soon, a version for Android will be also launched. This application allows the easy visualization of the events that are interesting for the friends that are in each Facebook user’s list and the visualization of the events announced of Facebook and which got a like from the users. Through this application, the users are informed about the evolution of the events they are interested of. More, the Events application recommends the users the events that take place close to their location.
