The Christmas tree from the White House will be presented to the public today, with the other decorations for the holidays, after it will be decked, informs the newspaper ABC. Having a height of 5,8 meters, the tree will be installed in the Blue Room for the last Christmas spent by the Obama family at the White House. As required by the tradition, the Christmas tree, which comes from a farm in Pennsylvania, reached the presidential residence in a carriage pulled by horses, last Friday, and was received by the First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, along with her nephews, Aaron and Austin Robinson, and the two dogs of the family, Sunny and Bo.
She was also accompanied by Mary and Dave Vander Velden, from Oconto, Wisconsin, the winners of the national tree contest. Michelle Obama congratulated them but, ‘Unfortunately nature was not on his (Dave Vander Velden’s) side and none of his trees grew to meet the specifications of height and fullness needed for the Blue Room. Our association selects the winners every other year and this can happen,’ stated Ann O’Connor of the National Christmas Tree Association. This is why this tree from Wisconsin will put someplace else in the White House. Wearing a black jacket and trousers of the same color, Michelle Obama came out to greet the tree in the company of her two nephews, Aaron and Austin Robinson, in the age of four and six years.
Austin and Aaron are the sons of her brother, Craig Robinson. ‘These are our replacement kids’, joked the first lady regarding the absence of her daughters, Malia and Sasha, the main protagonists of this type of events. ‘This happens when you have two teenage girls,’ said Michelle Obama, adding that one of the girls was still sleeping.
