Iran Nuclear Program Talks Likely to Miss Deadline as Negotiations Stall

The U.S. and allies were set to miss a new deadline in talks aimed at a formal deal on Iran’s nuclear program. “We’re not there yet,” State Department spokesman John Kirby said in Washington.

Secretary of State Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif held talks until early Tuesday in Vienna, along with counterparts from five world powers.

Lower-level officials continued negotiations as a deadline of midnight Tuesday loomed. Failure to agree by July 9 would extend the congressional review period for a possible accord.
