Google is bringing one of its most useful Google Maps features to iOS.
The company began adding support for offline navigation to its iOS app, Google confirmed on Monday. The update also added the ability to view gas prices and see wait-times for local businesses.
While Google Maps previously allowed people to view sections of maps offline, the latest update lets you search for specific locations, get directions and view information like business hours and contact information for restaurants and other businesses.
The feature, which was first teased during Google’s I/O developer conference in May and rolled out to Android users last month, is beginning to roll out to iOS now. A Google spokesperson told Mashable it will take a few weeks before the functionality is available to all users, so you may not see the update right away.
To take advantage of the the new offline features, demonstrated on Android in the GIF below, search for a city, county or country within the app and select “save offline map” from the location menu. Once saved, you can search nor turn-by-turn directions within the saved ares and view other information about specific businesses and locations.
Additionally, Monday’s update added support for popular times, its feature to help avoid lines, and the ability to see gas prices at gas station in the U.S in Canada.
