Kristin Chenoweth Receives Star at Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony

July 27, 2015 By Ellen Smith

As previously reported, Emmy- and Tony-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Friday in a ceremony attended by Carol Burnett, Kenny Ortega, Diane Warren and Dove Cameron.

Although Friday’s live stream didn’t work, video now has been released of the ceremony:

A Broken Arrow native, Chenoweth recalled her Oklahoma roots when she accepted the honor of the 2,555th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.“Growing up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, I never, ever, ever thought I would get to come to Hollywood, let alone be where people could walk all over me,” Chenoweth quipped.

Burnett called herself the petite multimedia star’s No. 1 fan.

“I adore this girl. I can’t believe that all this talent could be in that tiny little package. If I had my show today … I would want Kristin to be on every single week with us,” Burnett said, prompting Chenoweth to wipe away tears, smile sheepishly and then hug the comedy icon.

The star in the category of Live Theatre/Performance was dedicated next to the historic Pantages Theatre, 6243 Hollywood Boulevard.

“We are thrilled to have triple threat and veteran of the stage and screen Kristin Chenoweth on our iconic Walk of Fame. The chatter is that fans are very excited to see their favorite actress receiving the coveted star on Hollywood’s most famous sidewalk,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies.

Chenoweth, who recently earned her third Tony nomination for starring in the Broadway revival of “On the Twentieth Century,” will next be seen playing Maleficent in the Disney Channel movie “Descendants,” directed by Ortega. The telefilm premieres Friday.
