George H. W. Bush was hospitalized after a fall at home in Maine on Wednesday, spokesman Jim McGrath confirmed to ABC News. Bush broke a bone in his neck at his summer home in Kennebunkport and is in stable condition at a hospital in Portland, according to McGrath.
He was hospitalized out of caution because of his age. His wife Barbara accompanied him.
According to McGrath, Bush will not need surgery but will be in a neck brace for “at least a couple of months.”
Bush suffers from a form of Parkinson’s Disease and uses a motorized scooter to get around, according to the Associated Press.
He was hospitalized on Christmas 2012 for a bronchitis-relate cough and spent two months there.
